After a what some would call a down year in the Golden State at the quarterback position the class of 2007 in terms of depth look to be pretty good. Southpaw quarterback Craig Rasmussen (6-2, 185, 4.67) from San Diego (Calif.) Hilltop is one to watch.
Rasmussen earned League Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 2,365 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also has a good pair of feet as he rushed for 300 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns his junior season.
It is always a good thing to have options and Rasmussen will plenty of those since he is also a standout in baseball that is getting interest from the majors and colleges for his talents on the diamond. Rasmussen pitches and plays first base.
"Craig is a true athlete in every sense of the word," Hilltop coach Andy Diaz said. "He is a great kid who is a leader on and off the field."
"Craig has been a three-year starter for us and he keeps getting better year after year," Diaz said. "Reading defenses comes naturally to him."
"Craig makes tremendous decisions for us and can get the job done passing and running the football," Diaz said. "I can't say enough about him."
Rasmussen is planning on attending the NIKE Camp to be held in Los Angeles in April for him to be eligible to try out for the Elite 11 Camp.
Rasmussen will attend USC's junior day this coming Sunday on April 2nd. He also getting recruiting looks from Ole Miss, Colorado State and San Diego State.
