Rising SoCal RB gets first offer

Running back Carl Winston (5-10, 205, 4.48) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra is having an outstanding senior season that has seen him earn his first D-I offer and there could be two in the very near future.
San Jose State gave Winston his first offer and Oregon and Boise State could be next. Both Oregon and Boise State came by the Serra campus last week and watched film on Winston. Oregon and Boise State are going to bring tape back so they can get the approval of their respective head coaches for an offer.

There is a very good reason why San Jose State, Oregon and Boise State are impressed by what they see on film.
In his three games, Winston has rushed for 680 yards and eight touchdowns, while averaging 8-plus yards a carry. He has also proven to be a threat catching the ball out of the backfield, hauling in 10 receptions for 80 yards and two more touchdowns through the air. Winston's performance is one of the reasons why Serra high school is off to a perfect 3-0 start.
Winston talks about his first offer.
"It felt good to get my first offer," Winston said. "It felt good to get that monkey off my back. It motivates me to keep working hard to more."
"UCLA is also showing interest me," Winston said. "I went UCLA's game on Saturday and talked a lot to Coach Rick Neuheisel and Coach Norm Chow. They told me to keep up the good work and they will be coming to one of my games."
As a junior, Winston rushed for 1,854 yards and scored 23 touchdowns, while averaging 8.96 yards per carry. He also caught 15 passes for 144 yards. His junior season performance was good enough for him to earn first-team all-CIF honors and to be selected League Offensive Player of the Year.
It appears things are going to start getting really busy at the Winston household as his senior season progresses. Winston is definitely a player to track the rest of the way.
