Rising Peach State QB getting calls

Zach Richardson

is shaping up to be a name you may be hearing more from as summer fades into
fall.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter quarterback
is one of the South's rising prospects, as evidenced by his impressive camp
showings and the recent attention he's been receiving.
"I've had calls from Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia in the
last week or so," Richardson said. "I went down to Auburn this past weekend to
see them play Western Carolina. The game was pretty bad -- they beat them
something like 56-0 -- but it was fun. I had a good time, and I was glad they
wanted me there.
"Coach (Steve) Caldwell from Tennessee called a couple of
days ago. We're setting up an unofficial visit to see the Florida game. I'm
really excited about that, seeing those two teams in Neyland Stadium. I've been
there for a camp, but never for a big game like that with 100,000 people in
stands.
"Coach (Mike) Bobo from Georgia also called, but I wasn't
home at the time. He left me a message and said they'd be back in touch with me
sometime soon."
Those three teams have led for Richardson dating back to
the summer camp scene, but he said he's not settled on a top five list at this
point. Miami and LSU have been mentioned as other schools he's followed in the
past and would like to hear more from. "I really couldn't tell you who else
right now. I'm just going to go with the flow and see who takes interest. Since
this is my first year starting, I think a lot of people are wanting to see me
play first."
Richardson led Lassiter to a 28-25 victory over Pope in his
first game as a starter. He completed 18 of 36 passes for 215 yards and one
touchdown with one interception.
