Rising junior WR goes camping

When it comes to wide receivers in the Class of 2011 one of the premier prospects will be Andre Davis from Tampa Jefferson. Davis, 6-1 and 180 pounds, recently attended his first two camps at Florida State and Florida. Two weeks ago Davis blistered everyone attempting to cover him in USF's Sling and Shoot. In that event he was simply unstoppable.
"At Seminole Showtime I was hot, almost like Sling and Shoot," Davis said. "I think I did real well on 7-on-7. I learned a lot and coach (Lawrence) Dawsey taught me a lot about route running and getting in and out of breaks. He said I did real well. I know he called my coach this past week but I am not exactly sure what they talked about."

Seminole Showtime was last weekend. This past Friday Davis attended Friday Night Lights at Florida.
"I thought I did pretty good on Friday but I thought I did better at Showtime. I got more reps at Florida State. Florida had some good drills and I liked the coaches. They did work us hard. I spoke with coach (Urban) Meyer and (Billy) Gonzales. They said I would be on their radar and to keep working hard. It was encouraging."
Davis said he's open at this time. He just wants to see what happens in September and see how he does this season.
"Right now I am just chilling and sitting back. I am open and just want to focus on my season."
Jefferson plays Chamberlain in their kickoff classic before opening up their season against Hillsborough. They start two-a-days on August 5th.
