Riggins names Pac-12 leader

D.J. Riggins unfortunately could not make it to the Oregon-Cal game this past weekend but the Golden Bears have emerged as a clear favorite for the 2014 running back.
The Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian standout said he loves a lot of things about Cal football, the school and some players on the team are family friends and that all plays a factor as to why the Golden Bears stand out more than others.

"I told the coaches I'm going to make it up there soon since I couldn't this weekend," Riggins said.
"It's been going well. I've been talking to their running backs coach a lot and they've been sending me letters. I'm really interested in that school.
"I love their education, I love where it's located and two players that just committed last year, Chris Harper from Crespi is a close family friend and Bryce Treggs from St. John Bosco is also close to our family. They spoke highly of the school and I love it."
So far, Riggins lists offers from Colorado State, San Jose State, Utah State and Wyoming. He's receiving serious interest from Cal, Washington State, Utah, Nebraska, UCLA and Washington.
The 2014 prospect is keeping all his options open since it's still early in his recruitment but after talking with the Cal coaching staff, learning more about the academics and then discussing things with Harper, Treggs and others, the Golden Bears are high on his wish list.
"They are definitely a favorite," Riggins said.
In his junior season, the Oaks Christian recruit rushed for 572 yards and 10 touchdowns on 91 attempts.
