Riggins finds all he wants at IU

Hamilton (Ohio) three-star cornerback A'Shon Riggins wanted to do his due diligence before selecting his college destination. That work has been done, and on Monday he announced a commitment to Indiana.
"I've been thinking about it probably for a few days, actually," Riggins said. "Before I went up there Saturday I was thinking about committing, I just wanted to get my family up there and see how they felt about it. We went out there and they loved it."

After returning home from the visit to Indiana and getting his family's feedback, Riggins placed a call to head coach Kevin Wilson to inform him of the commitment.
"I actually talked to Coach Wilson yesterday," Riggins said. "They really like me and he told me that it's not about committing, it's about coming to be a great player. I love that about Coach Wilson. He's real about everything he says and he's big on family, which is important to me."
Riggins received additional assurance on the coaching staff from a former teammate at Hamilton, current Indiana linebacker Marcus Oliver.
"My first time talking to him about it I was asking about the coaches and he started talking about my cornerbacks coach, Brandon Shelby, there," Riggins said. "He was telling me he's an energetic guy and will get on you, but everything is from the heart.
"I don't want a coach to baby everyone and I don't want a coach who's just a big jerk, and Marcus was telling me the coaches really want you to get better and not just in football - they teach you real life lessons."
Of course the input from his family was very important to Riggins as well, and after Saturday's visit to Bloomington he got their seal of approval.
"My dad is all about wanting to get out and see what other places have," Riggins said. "That was kind of my reason for waiting a little bit longer, but after we went out to Indiana he was like, 'I loved it and I don't even care if we go see anywhere else.' That was really good to hear from him.
"My stepmom went out there and she asked me if I like the school so much, what am I looking for in any other schools? I didn't have anything to say because I like Indiana so much.
Indiana is recruiting the 6-foot, 162-pound Riggins to play cornerback, where he recorded three interceptions as a junior.
Now that his commitment is made, Riggins will return his attention to his Hamilton High team and is putting the recruiting process behind him.
"I am done with visits and everything," Riggins said. "I want to show a real commitment. I see guys flipping commitments all the time and I'm not about that. When I go with something, I'm going to stick with it."
