Riep checking out Big Ten schools

The early season slate of college games has given Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain 2017 defensive back Amir Riep a chance to check out several Big Ten programs.

"I went to Purdue last week," Riep said. "They've been (recruiting me) for a little while now. At the end I talked to Taver Johnson and he was just saying that he likes me and will keep watching. I can see it working out. They play a lot of zone. I like to play man, but zone is fine."
Michigan State assistant coach Harlon Barnett has also been keeping an eye on Riep this fall and showing interest. The three-star cornerback reciprocated that interest by traveling to East Lansing for the Spartan's home opener.
"I went up to the Oregon game and it was nice," Riep said. "What stood out to me was the DBs getting two interceptions. That just showed me it is a good place to be for DBs. I already thought highly of Michigan State because of the DBs that came out there and went to the next level and it just made me more excited seeing them play."
Riep plans his third Big Ten game visit this Saturday when he travels to Bloomington to see Indiana open their Big Ten schedule at home. It will be a return trip for Riep.
"I went up there one time after the Rivals Combine, saw their practice and talked to the DB coach a little bit," Riep said. "I know two guys up there that came from Colerain. They were just saying it is a good place to be."
The 6-foot, 180-pound Riep has two interceptions this season and has helped Colerain get out to a 4-1 record.
