Richmonds UA vision becomes a reality

As an eighth grader at Memphis University School, Class of 2015 five-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond would walk through the hallways and look up at the jerseys representing former All-Americans who came through the school. He hoped one day that he could have his jersey alongside them, and on Wednesday that goal became a reality.

"Ever since I saw the jersey of our quarterback (former Ole Miss quarterback Barry Brunetti) put up in the hall, I thought about that," said Richmond, who is now committed to Ole Miss himself. "Ever since then I had a dream and a goal to play in the Under Armour Game and be put up on that wall. Now I know I will be up there."
Richmond was selected for the game last fall but said the closer the game gets the more real it feels. Putting on the jersey on Wednesday was just another step closer to suiting up for the game.
"It's a different feeling to put the jersey on," he said. "Now I know it's assured. It's just a blessing really and an honor for me."
Richmond is a native of Memphis and said he's looking forward to representing his city on the national stage.
"People don't give us much credit if we're from Memphis," Richmond said. " We get a bad rep for everything. It's good to be able to put us in a good light instead of everything being negative. I want to go out and represent the city and play well."
Richmond is a two-time participant in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour, and he said he's looking forward to reconnecting with some old friends in Orlando.
"It's going to be fun to see all those guys again but I'm going down there with a business mindset," Richmond said. "Sometimes when you know guys well you can joke around and mess around too much. All of us have gotten close over the years but during practices you have to be ready because these are the best players in the country. I plan on going out there to show that I'm the best and that's what I'm looking forward to the most."
Richmond remains committed to Ole Miss but said he still intends to take a few more official visits before his recruitment is over. Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee and Alabama are all in the mix to get trips by the end of the year.
