Wheaton, Ill. four star ranked offensive tackle prospect Dace Richardson (6-foot-6, 300 pounds) and his Wheaton South teammates have taken a step into unchartered waters, yet this standout prospect is happy but not satisfied until the Tigers take two more steps this season.
“We've played and have beaten three straight conference rivals now in the playoffs," Richardson said. “It feels really good to take the next step in the playoffs. We were eliminated in the quarterfinals last year, and to beat a good team like Naperville Central to advance is a good feeling."
"The Central game was what I expected. It was a really hard hitting and physical game and they played us really tough. This week we face Maine South at our place on Saturday, and they have a great team. I know that our defense will need to play a really good game against their offense, because they have been putting up a ton of points this year. Our defense has been playing very well in the playoffs, and I know that they will be ready for Saturday."
"We've taken a new step in the playoffs now, but I know we won't be satisfied until we take two more steps (to winning the Class 8A state title). I'll be happy then, but not until then."
Richardson's recruiting remains in status quo.
"From now until the end of the season it's all about my team and the playoffs. I've put the recruiting stuff on the back burner until after the season. I'm not thinking much about visits or anything recruiting related. I'll set some more official visits after the season is over with, and I'm still looking at a few schools that I might set visits with."
Richardson has already made an official visit to Tennessee and has an official visit set to Iowa on December 10th. Richardson is planning to make at least three official visits before he makes his final college choice. Richardson is looking at Michigan, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma and Wisconsin and plans to set at least one official visit between those four schools.
