Rice misses Syracuse visit

Gaffney, S.C., wide receiver Sidney Rice was scheduled to travel to Syracuse over the weekend, but there were more pressing things going on at the same time – like a state championship game. He has yet to reschedule the visit, but still lists the Orangemen amongst his favorites.
Syracuse was the only visit he had scheduled, but he lists Florida, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, and Tennessee as other possibilities. He does, however, have in-home visits planned with Pitt’s J.D. Brookhart and South Carolina’s Charlie Williams.

“I am looking at the academics, a good football program, and the basketball program,” he commented. He is also a standout guard for the Gaffney hoops squad, and Tennessee, South Carolina, and Syracuse have all expressed interest in having him play both sports. He is in no hurry to sign and expects to wait until Signing Day before making his intentions public.
Sidney was unable to make his trip to New York, because he was leading his team to the state title. He had five receptions for 97 yards in the victory, bringing his season total to 78 catches for 1414 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Rated the No. 48 wide receiver in the country by Rivals.com, Rice is 6-foot-4, weighs 185 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. He also boasts an incredible 35-inch vertical leap. He maintains a 3.3 GPA and appears to be on track to qualify academically.
