Rice is next for Patterson

The second offer is in hand for North Mesquite (Texas) High School receiver Daymond Patterson.
The 5-foot-8, 165-pounder took an unofficial visit to Rice this past weekend and found out that the Owls would be the next to put an offer on the table. The in-state school joins Illinois as his first two offers, but others could be coming soon.

"Minnesota is really starting to talk to me a lot, they seem to be getting close (to offering)," Patterson said. "Colorado State seems to like me, and if Duke doesn't offer in the next couple of weeks, it will be sometime in the spring."
Patterson says he is "still open."
"I don't want to rush anything," he said. "It's not going to be too long like I've said, but I'm not exactly close to a decision right now."
Patterson says his next unofficial visit could be to Illinois in April.
"I wanted to get up there and see their campus since they were the first to offer," he said. "That will be my next trip unless something else doesn't come up first."
The latest offer from Rice also impresses him and not just for athletic reasons.
"I'm really pleased with Rice," he said. "It's a big academic school, top in Texas, and my family and I are really big on academics so we're big on Rice."
