Rice first up for Houston DT

With two four-star teammates heading the University of Texas, it’s easy to fly under the recruiting radar. And that’s exactly the case for Houston Lamar defensive tackle Avery Williams.
The 6-foot-1, 285-pound Williams has scholarship offers from Rice, Baylor and UTEP and is already lined up two official visits with several more in the works.

“I’m going to visit Rice this weekend,” Williams said. “Then I’m going to Colorado State the weekend after that. I’m also talking to Houston, Arizona and Arkansas about visits. This is really starting to get exciting for me.”
But don’t expect Williams to rush to a decision.
“I’m not the type that’s going to commit early,” he said.
“I’m going to take my visits and go try to find the best fit for me.”
Williams has a 3.3 grade-point average and an impress 4.9-second time in the 40-yard dash. He can also bench-press 325 pounds and squat 500 pounds.
