Reynolds, a sleeper no longer

San Antonio (Texas) John Jay wide receiver Joshua Reynolds missed the first half of the 2010 season with a foot injury, so he made sure to take full advantage of 2011.
The 6-3, 180-pound receiver recorded 950 yards and 12 TDs and averaged 22 yards a catch as a junior, earning all-area and all-district honors. In addition to receiver, Reynolds also left his mark as a punter, kicker, and a free safety.

In case he did not have everyone's attention he took his talents to the track, where he finished third in the 300m hurdles with a 37.99 at the Region IV track meet.
As a senior, he has started with a bang on the football field. Through three games he has recorded 16 receptions for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns. College coaches have taken notice.
"I have a full ride to Oregon State," Reynolds said. "I got that about the middle of the summer."
Recently, Reynolds was able to take an official visit to Corvalis, Ore., to check out the school who extended him his first opportunity to play Division I football.
"He was up there a couple of weeks ago for their game with Wisconsin," John Jay head coach Bobby Jack Goforth said. "He was able to go up to Oregon State because we had a Thursday game."
While on the visit, Reynolds was able to soak in the atmosphere as Oregon State upset Wisconsin 10-7. After returning home there were a few things about the trip which stood out to Reynolds.
"The coaching staff," Reynolds said. "They have a great coaching staff, fan base, and everything."
Meeting the coaches was big, and he enjoyed his time getting to know Oregon State receivers coach Brent Brennan.
"He knew what he was talking about," Reynolds said.
There are no other visits on Reynolds' schedule right now, but he has not discounted taking visits to a few more places. Baylor and TCU have expressed some interest, and Reynolds is taking his time with the recruiting process and is not naming any leaders.
"No, not right now," Reynolds said. "I'm keeping my options open."
While he is keeping his options open, he does know one thing he will be looking for as he progresses through the recruiting process.
"A coaching staff I can connect with," Reynolds said. "I want to feel comfortable."
