Returning receiver tops in Houston

On the receiving end of 65 passes from the arm of Langham Creek quarterback Ross Jenkins this season was junior wide out Tyler Melton, who led all-Greater Houston in receptions.
Jenkins, who has been offered by Louisiana Tech, threw for 2,571 yards - 936 yards and 15 touchdowns going to Melton (6-1, 180-pounds), who will be a highly coveted recruit from the Bayou City in 2007. He also returns punts and kicks for the Lobos.

"I missed a lot of my sophomore season with a neck injury and I felt like I had to make up for last year," Melton said. "This year Ross and I were a good team. When I saw the ball, I just went up and got it."
A sure first-team, all-district selection for his play this year, Melton will be highly recruited this spring and knows what he is looking for in college.
"I want to go somewhere I that throws a lot," he said. "I like Southern California, Michigan and Texas Tech. We have a surplus of running backs and a good quarterback coming back, so we I should put up some of the same numbers last year. Ross' brother Max will be the starter at quarterback next year."
Melton will be attending the Nike Combine in Texas and will be selecting a few summer one-day camps to attend. He will not be playing AAU basketball this summer to concentrate on football.
