Chesapeake (Va.) Grassfield linebacker Avery Thompson pulled in his first scholarship a few weeks back. What's transpired with the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder since the big offer from the ACC?
"I haven't heard anything from other schools about offers," he said. "Virginia Tech told me that they will see me once the season starts.
"I just keep receiving letters from Tech, Boston College and NC State. I'm not going to camps too much cause NC State has no more and Tennessee only has overnight camps."

Meanwhile, Maryland is hoping to get another trip from their offeree.
"They want me to come visit again this month," he said. "I'm not sure when, but my family wants to go up there again, we haven't discussed it yet."
As he continues to wait on recruiting, Thompson is focusing on preparing for this season.
"We just pick up conditioning next week and hopefully I'll hear more from schools then," he said. "Until then, I'm just running and working out.
"I'm working on my footwork which has definitely improved and my bench has increased."
