Rettig lands Big Ten offer

Hayden Rettig recently picked up his latest offer from Purdue but the Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral pro-style quarterback is now more focused on getting ready for his junior season and not too concerned about recruiting.
The offers are nice and Rettig will take them but he wants to have a big junior season and that's his main concern at this point.

"I didn't know it was going to happen," Rettig said of the Purdue offer. "I talked to my coach and they offered me but I haven't talked to their coach yet so I can't say anything. They offered me through their head coach.
"I'm really excited. I'm really focused on working with my team and how I'm playing with them. Everything is going good right now. We start practice on Thursday and I'm pretty pumped for this upcoming year."
Rettig, a 2013 prospect who shined at the Los Angeles NIKE Camp this spring, now has offers from Purdue, Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College and Vanderbilt and is hearing from other schools as well.
But the 6-foot-3, 200-pound recruit said he doesn't have a favorites list or anything like that yet and is solely focused on doing well this season.
He figures he has more than enough time to let the recruiting process play out over the next couple years. If he performs well maybe even more offers will come in.
"I'm trying to sit back," Rettig said. "I just want to relax and not let the recruiting process take a toll on me when I have to make a decision. Right now I'm just hanging out and having fun and making myself the best I can and make sure the team is doing well.
"My coach tells me about some schools here and there. When I was younger I was ready for anything and I knew I could do it. Now I'm just working harder and harder every day and letting things just happen. I don't even have a list right now. I'm just trying to get myself better right now."
