Reid talks Florida commitment, new offers

Don't expect talented Valdosta (Ga.) Lowndes athlete Greg Reid to sway very much in his recent commitment to Florida, but don't expect other schools to stop recruiting him either. The versatile prospect committed to the Gators following the Florida junior day weeks ago but has still been gaining offers.
"I got an offer yesterday from Florida State," Reid said. "It was in the envelope but my coach gave it to me. I've also got offers from Virginia Tech, FIU and Auburn."

Though the other offers keep rolling in, Reid remains excited about the chance to play for Florida.
"I'm pretty excited about Florida," he confirmed. "I was raised up as a Florida fan. My momma and my dad were Florida fans and I've been in love with the Gators ever since."
Reid was a key cog in the Lowndes class AAAAA Georgia State Championship run and he made his impact all over the field. He has the size and athleticism of a defensive back but it is hard not to be impressed by Reid with the ball in his hands. He often lined up as the quarterback in the Lowndes offense, taking direct snaps and racing to the end zone.
Florida has yet to designate Reid a position for the next level.
"They really haven't made up their mind yet," he said. "I like running the ball. But I like doing everything so it doesn't really matter."
Reid will talk more about his recruitment at the Rivals.com Five-Star Academy in Tallahassee on March 1st.
