Regional schools involved with Frantz

MORE: RCS Southern California: What to watch
Scott Frantz didn't have to leave town to grab his first BCS-level scholarship offer. That came during his junior day visit to Kansas, the school just down the highway from his family home.

The Jayhawks' invitation is the 6-foot-5 offensive lineman's second overall. Frantz also holds an offer from Marshall. Given the regional interest surrounding the class of 2015 standout, more offers could follow soon.
"The main schools that are talking to me a lot are Kansas, Missouri and Kansas State," Frantz said. "Those are the main three for me right now - the big ones, anyway."
Growing up in Lawrence, Frantz became a Kansas fan at a young age, though he didn't attend many games. And while he was certainly thankful for the Jayhawks' offers, it didn't exactly catch him off guard.
"I kind of thought they would offer me sometime, but I didn't really expect it yet because they weren't really talking to me that much," Frantz said. "They had me come to junior day a little early to talk to (Charlie) Weis and offered me there."
Frantz has visited both Kansas and Missouri already and will attend Kansas State's junior day on March 8. Those three trips, while not long ones by any stretch, could end up being important. Frantz says the regional programs have substantial pull in his recruitment.
"I've always wanted to play somewhere close like Missouri, KU or K-State," he said. "That would be awesome. One school that would just blow me away, though, is Ohio State. Stanford, Wisconsin or Ohio State are three huge ones for me. They're places where they just have a really great offensive line all the time. Those would be awesome."
Frantz has set no timetable for a decision, as he may or may not pull the trigger before the start of his senior season.
'If I get that offer, and it's a school that I really want to go to, then I'll probably commit before my senior year," Frantz said. "If not, I'll wait."
