Reese schedules more official visits

Farmington (Mich.) linebacker David Reese has been committed to Michigan since April, but before he signs a letter of intent the three-star prospect wants to take all five of his allotted official visits. Plans for two of those official visits were finalized earlier this week.

The first official visit of the process for Reese will go to Nebraska this weekend, where he will be joined by a friend and former teammate, four-star wide receiver Desmond Fitzpatrick.
"When I think of Nebraska I think of defense first of all," Reese said. "You think linebackers, defense and a winning program, which they always have. I know this is a down year because they have a new head coach and are rebuilding, but I know about the tradition of Nebraska, the atmosphere of the games and how the people really love their team."
The next visit on Reese's scheduled, which was also finalized earlier this week, is to Florida the weekend of Nov. 27 when they host in-state rival Florida State.
"I am excited because that is one of the biggest games in college football," Reese said. "That's going to be one of the craziest games that I've ever been a part of. Florida is having a great year, is 7-1 and I just can't wait to get down to The Swamp for the first time. I am excited to see how he plays his linebackers and how Coach (Randy) Shannon works with the defense."
Texas offered Reese on Oct. 14 and an official visit to Austin was scheduled soon after. That trip is planned for the weekend of Dec. 11.
"I can't wait to get down there," Reese said. "I've been a close relationship with Coach (Brian Jean-Mary) and the rest of the staff. They have been calling me week in and week out and been on Twitter with Coach (Charlie) Strong.
"It's very important knowing they have freshmen linebackers right now with Malik (Jefferson) and another starting. They basically said Malik is an outside guy and they need someone in the middle."
Despite scheduling additional official visits, Reese said his commitment to Michigan remains intact.
"I still have a lot of interest in Michigan," Reese said. "I am just taking the visits to make sure I am making the best decision for the next four years of my life."
When it comes to scheduling his two remaining official visits, though, the southeast Michigan linebacker may not hold one for the Wolverines.
"We've been there so much we've pretty much seen everything, so I'm not sure if I'm going to take one there or what I am going to do for the other two," Reese said. "I am probably going to take them all, but it depends on how I feel after every situation. Louisville and Kentucky, those are two schools I have been in contact with still and could get a visit."
One factor in play here is that each of the schools Reese has scheduled official visits with will take him as a mid-year enrollee, whereas Michigan has told him they do not have the room for him to be a mid-year guy.
The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Reese finished his senior season with 150 tackles and seven forced fumbles for a 5-5 Farmington team.
