Redd ready to decide

Elizabethton, Tenn. defensive end Vincent Redd has less than a week left to make his decision. Is he close?
"We're hoping Vince will make his decision soon, but I don't think it will be until next week," said Elizabethton head coach Tommy Jenkins. "He's still considering all five teams, but he's in the process of narrowing it down."

So what will be the biggest factors?
"I think location will play a big role," he said. "He wants his parents and family to be able to see him play and he doesn't want to go too far away. Tennessee and Virginia Tech are just around three hours away and that's a big advantage. He's still looking at the others and a place like South Carolina is only four hours or so away, but the closer the better it seems."
And what about playing in state?
"Well, I'm a bit partial to Tennessee because my brother played there ("Pert" Jenkins and the only piece of advice I gave Vincent was that I think he should play in the state he lives in," he said. "But we're not pushing or steering him in any direction. He's going to make his own decision. He's still working on a checklist of things he wants in a school to see who comes out on top.
"We'd love to see him decide by the weekend so we can set some things up for next week and stop the calls, but I don't know if that will happen. I've respectfully told all the coaches that he's not taking any more visitors now. Coach Holtz and coach Beamer wanted to come in this week, but they understood."
