Red Raiders are first for McGuffie

It was only a matter of time.
Big 12 member Texas Tech is first to throw their hat into the Sam McGuffie sweepstakes. McGuffie has become an urban legend on national recruiting boards after his highlight film hit the likes of Rivals.com and elsewhere across the Internet.

After viewing McGuffie's game film, Texas Tech coaches called McGuffie from their video room to offer the enigma running back.
"I got a text message from the Tech coaches and they said to call them ASAP," McGuffie said. "I called the coaches and they told me that they just watched the film and they couldn't wait any longer. They got my address and said they have offered.
"They were real excited and I could hear them yelling in the background. They told me they wanted me to be a Red Raider. That is my first offer and they got me excited."
McGuffie rushed for more than 3,000 yards this season, leading Cypress Fairbanks to the Class 5A state quarterfinals.
"They really like my versatility and want to play me at running back or in the slot," McGuffie said. "They think I'm a perfect fit for their offense. I remind them of Wes Welker a lot."
A dozen coaches dropped by practice two weeks ago to check on McGuffie, including Texas, Oklahoma State, Michigan and LSU.
So the only question remaining is who's next?
