As reported by Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde, Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze resigned from his position on Thursday. Rivals.com has reaction to the news from a number of Ole Miss recruits.
OLE MISS COMMITS
Bobby Wolfe confirms that he has decommitted from Ole Miss.
"It's a very unfortunate situation and I still have a tremendous amount of respect for coach Freeze. I'm just going to keep focused on my season and the best to lead my team. I am staying committed to Ole Miss right now."
"I committed to a program, not a coach. I am fine with Coach Luke and Crime (defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff). It hurt. I had a bad feeling something was coming with Freeze, but life goes on. I am still 100 percent committed. I have heard from 20 schools already since the news broke."
"I need to talk to my family about this before having a full statement, but as of right now I am fully committed to Ole Miss."
"I like coach Freeze a lot, but I didn't commit to the school because of a single coach. I wish coach Freeze the best. I'm still committed. Hotty Toddy."
OLE MISS TARGETS
"This really doesn't mean anything to me personally because I cannot choose a school because of a coach. I am not saying that the players and the coaches do not need to have a bond, but at the end of the day, all that matters is about how you feel about the school and the environment."
"I'm very surprised, but I don't care for politics. You make a decision off the school, not the staff. Coach Freeze was a great coach, so I hate to see him step back from football."
"This doesn't mean anything to me. Ole Miss is still one of my top schools and I am still a top target for them. Things happen and I am sure there is a good reason behind this. He was a great man and like a father to many players. This shouldn't knock him down as a man or a coach and I am still going to look at Ole Miss."
"I can't really say I am surprised by this, but I did not expect it this soon. I don't care for politics, you make a decision off the school, not the staff. Coach Freeze was a great coach, so I hate to see him step back from football."
"He was a great coach and wherever he goes, I wish him the best. I have a great relationship with Wesley McGriff (defensive coordinator), so as long as he is there, we will still be good. I still have interest in Ole Miss."
"I am somewhat lost for words. I never thought that this would happen. I mean, I still know most of the coaching staff and I have good relationships with coach Luke and coach Peeler, so I am going to sit down with my family, talk to them and gather my thoughts."
"I just hate it for Ole Miss. They seem not to be able to catch a break. I'm not too surprised, though."
