Recruits Rap: Clemson on my mind

After signing autographs with teammates in a hotel lobby Thursday night, J.C. Neal worked on his personal diary from the North Carolina-South Carolina Shrine Bowl. One player from each team is doing a daily diary for Rivals.com this week and Neal is handling the duties for

South Carolina.

A 5-foot-11, 177-pound cornerback and four-star recruit from Lakewood High, he remains one of the top uncommitted prospects in the Southeast. He has narrowed down his long list of choices to N.C. State and Virginia Tech. This is his second entry as told through Rivals.com's Andrew Skwara.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – I'm always hearing about Clemson here. A lot of the players who have committed to Clemson are trying to get me and other guys to join them.

Clemson does cross my mind, but I'm trying to fight it. I want to get out of state badly, but then sometimes I don't want to leave. I'm having a tough time making my mind up.

But, right now, me and my teammates are out to prove a point. We've been hearing all week that North Carolina is going to crush us and we are obviously the sleepers and underdogs, and we are going to show them that we stack up.

Mike Davis (four-star running back) continues to be the guy that has impressed me the most. It's ridiculous how powerful he is and that he is still very fast. Mike Hill (unranked linebacker) has also surprised me and is really good, too.

Terrance Smith (unranked linebacker) is the best trash talker on the team. He keeps everybody riled up.

After our second practice Wednesday, all the players went to a church and the head coach from Wofford head coach (Mike Ayers) spoke to us. His message got me excited to play and hyped me up.

When we got back to the hotel a lot of the players called their girlfriends, but about six of us decided to go the room where Hivera Green (three-star defensive lineman) was staying to watch a movie called White Chicks. C.J. Byrd (Georgia commit), Rendrick Taylor (Clemson), Davis and others were there. We were all laughing from the start. Some people were even laughing so hard they were crying. I had no idea it would be so funny. I'd give it four stars.

We go up real early Thursday and seven other guys and myself feel asleep on the bus and missed the start of practice. The field looked frozen (heavy dew) and we wore full pads even though North Carolina's team just wore shoulder pads and shorts. Some of the players were complaining.

We came back for a second practice that day and didn't do much. We are basically just going into walk-throughs now.
