Recruitment still quiet for standout defender

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Beaumont (Texas) West Brook has loads of talent on its 2008 squad and one player that has gone relatively unnoticed to date on the recruiting scene is linebacker Taylor Reed. Reed is a 6-foot-1, 195 pound linebacker with good length, speed and athleticism. All of that was on display this weekend at the Texas State 7 on 7 Tournament where Reed was a standout.
"I've been working on my speed," Reed said. "I'm getting my weights up. I'm working on my pass drops and it definitely helps with this."

Currently, Reed's recruitment has been quiet but he has been hearing from a few programs.
"I'm undecided," he said. "I'm just taking it day by day. I'm hearing from UNLV, U of H, McNeese State and some schools like that. I'm just working out with my team at school every day."
As a junior, Reed was productive on the defensive side of the ball.
"I had 92 tackles and eight sacks," he said. "It went pretty well but I'm trying to do much better this year."
Reed also competes in powerlifting in the offseason where he bench presses 300 pounds and squats 475.
