IN HIS OWN WORDS…

"N.C. State, Duke, and East Carolina have offered me," Battle said. "Coach Henry and coach Barlow are showing me a lot of attention from N.C. State. I visited up there earlier this year and they love seeing me. I really enjoyed it up there and they treated me like family. I was watching their defense a lot and trying to compare myself to some of their guys.

"I've been to a few Duke games this year," he said. "I've been keeping an eye on their main two cornerbacks. They run a lot of press coverage and I've been trying to learn from them. Coach Boyette and me talk a lot and we get along really well. He's always asking me to come up.

"My dream school is Clemson," said Battle. "My freshman year I went to the camp there. I took away a lot from it."

RIVALS' REACTION

Battle is a taller, longer defensive back that will garner a lot of attention as the recruiting process moves forward. N.C. State and Duke have themselves in good position right now. They likely have a lot of staying power as long as Battle doesn't jump on an offer from a bigger program down the road.
