Defensive end is a premium position and the state of North Carolina has been producing some of the top talent at that position for years. The next big time defensive end from North Carolina is Desmond Evans. The Sanford (N.C.) Lee County star already has eight offers and more are coming.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

North Carolina and N.C. State stand out to me so far,” Evans said. “I like them because every time I go down there I talk to them and they tell me the right things to do. I like coaches that tell me what to do and what not to do and just give me advice.

"If it’s a school I really like I’m going to go down there and my family will go too," he said. "Distance doesn’t matter.

"I haven’t talked to Kentucky much," said Evans. "They offered me first when I was 13-years-old. I need to go down there and check them out.

"I love Tennessee," he said. "I went down there for a basketball trip and saw the school. That’s when I found out about my offer. The school is really nice.

"I don’t know much about Mississippi State," Evans said. "I heard about that offer from my coach.

"I want to go to Clemson again," he said. "I was there during last season. There are a lot of coaches from my area there. I like the connection I have with them.

"I want to hear from Virginia Tech," said Evans. "I went up there one time and it was really nice. They just dominate up there and I like how they compete. I didn’t know about how well they were recruiting in North Carolina."

RIVALS’ REACTION

Offers will pour in for Evans in the coming months if he has the season everybody expects from him. He has the size and speed of an elite prospect but the best thing about him is his motor. Evans never stops pursuing the ball and coaches will love him for it. North Carolina and N.C. State have a leg up on the competition but if Clemson offers they will be hard to beat. Virginia Tech’s growing presence in North Carolina seems to have made an impression on Evans without him even knowing it. Look for the Hokies to offer in the next few months. Tennessee has recruited the state of North Carolina well over the past few years. Don't be surprised if the Vols are a major contender throughout Evans' recruitment.
