Recruiting takes a turn for Thompson

Things are rolling along for defensive tackle Isiah Thompson as the Tatum, Texas defensive tackle makes his way into the semi-finals of the state playoffs.
Aside from on-the-field success, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound prospect is expecting big things to continue happening on the recruiting front. Thompson claims offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Stephen F. Austin.

The Red Raiders were once the favorite. Are things still the same?
"Well, they're kind of in the picture but things have changed a lot," Thompson said. "I waited a little too long to commit. When I tried, they said my position had filled up. They said if someone dropped, it would likely be a spot that would open up."
As for everything else in the picture, Thompson has some visit ideas.
"I plan on going to Lafayette, Houston, and maybe Utah State," Thompson said. "I'm heavily considering going to Houston. I mean it's a good school with good facilities, and I've got some friends that go there."
With the playoffs rolling along, Thompson won't make those visits until January. He has not set a date for a decision.
