Recruiting stays busy for Westphal

In a three-day span, Parrker Westphal landed almost all his offers and even though it's been a few weeks since it happened, the Bolingbrook, Ill., cornerback is still surprised by the pace of his recruitment.
The 2014 prospect said this past weekend at the B2G Elite Camp in Thousand Oaks, Calif., that West Virginia was the first to offer on May 27 and then Cincinnati, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Purdue followed.

"I'm just taking it slow day-by-day," Westphal said. "I'm just focused on practice and going hard every day I'm out there.
"I knew they were going to come but not that fast. It was like a three-day span I got like 12 offers."
Everything has been a big surprise to Westphal, a 6-foot-1, 181-pound prospect, because when West Virginia offered the coaching staff really had no contact with him. Each offer that comes in is something new for the Illinois standout to consider.
"West Virginia didn't even talk to my coach before they offered," Westphal said. "They just said they were going to offer and I was definitely surprised."
Westphal has wasted no time getting a sense of college campuses though. He has already visited Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio State and wants to see more places as his recruitment continues.
Those five programs stand out early on but Westphal said he's looking for something in particular when choosing a school.
"I just wanted to check out the campuses right now," Westphal said. "I just want to go where they can win a national championship or have the potential to win one."
