Recruiting rises for Jersey ATH Jacobs

Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic athlete Davon Jacobs is a name to watch for the 2012 recruiting class. The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder hasn't pulled his first offer to date, but is getting quite a bit of interest and already has a couple teams he's high on.
"I'm getting a few schools looking at me, Rutgers, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Georgia and UCLA," he said. "I know the coaches at Boston College and Rutgers really like me. They want me to go for visits and visit campus.

"This summer I've only been to Rutgers once for a visit and then a 7-on-7. It was all right. It was more than what I expected, I liked the campus and the weight room was pretty cool. I got to talk to their defensive back coach and he really likes me, he told me he was glad I came down."
Jacobs plans to take more visits potentially this fall.
"I'm trying to get down to Rutgers again and Pittsburgh said they want me to come for a game, Boston College does too."
Jacobs claims two schools stick out at this time.
"I like Pittsburgh and Rutgers," he said. "I like that Rutgers has a good academic program and it's close to home. You can say the same thing about Pittsburgh."
The versatile athlete posted 68 tackles and three interceptions on his way to all-conference and all-county honors as a sophomore.
"I'm pretty fast and can read offenses. I'm quick too," he said. "I still want to improve my speed and strength this season along with my footwork. Hopefully I can make it to be all-state this year."
Jacobs doesn't just excel on the gridiron as he is a talented basketball player as well averaging 15-points per game while earning all-county and all-conference honors.
