Recruiting rises for big Jersey WR

Recruiting is picking up for 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver Kyle Hardy out of Matawan, N.J. The Garden State prospect has already visited a couple schools and is getting interest from colleges in the ACC, Big East and Big Ten.
"We visited a couple colleges over Thanksgiving," Hardy's mom, Debbie Hardy said. "We went to Rutgers and Virginia. He's also being recruited by Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, Temple, North Carolina and Wake Forest. He has not gotten any offers yet."

While there may not be true leaders yet, one schools has definitely made an impression.
"I know he likes Rutgers," she said. "He really likes them. In fact, we were there recently for a junior day and we went on a tour of the facilities and out on the field. He liked it.
"I was impressed with the way they handle their students with academics. I think he kind of wants to stay as close to home as possible, but it depends on the best fit and what he feels about the school."
Hardy put together a solid performance for Matawan as a junior.
"He had a rough year because they had a freshman quarterback that just came out of Pop Warner," she said. "That put a little damper on Kyle's numbers. He did have five interceptions on defense. He didn't get as many touchdown receptions as he normally would. He still earned second team all-conference."
