Recruiting rises as Funderburk mulls visits

Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy 2014 safety Daejuan Funderburk claims two offers. The 6-foot-1, 186-pounder is seeing his interest rise as he mulls upcoming visits.
"Recruiting is neat, I like it," he said. "I still have the two offers (Georgia Tech/Tennessee), but I'm receiving interest. I've gotten letters from Ole Miss, Florida, Michigan State and Florida State. They mention they plan to come to my games and have invited me to go to their games."

Is he going anywhere?
"I am taking a visit to Ohio State with Jalen Tabor, I don't know what game it will be though cause our schedule is busy. I am planning to go to Maryland for the Florida State game later in the year too."
Funderburk hasn't been to too many colleges yet, so what does he want to see?
"I just want to experience different campuses and see how they operate football wise in the classroom," he said. "I want to see what majors they have, that's important, academics first."
Funderburk claims a top five at this stage as his recruiting is on the rise.
"I'd say my top five would be Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Florida State, South Carolina and Rutgers," he said. "They are all sending me a lot of stuff. I like the rebuilding part at those schools and I think these top ranked teams could use an addition to their defense. For Georgia Tech, I don't like their offense, but I know they produce defensive players. For Rutgers, my cousin was going to go there, so I know a little bit about them."
Funderburk has helped his team to a 3-0 start after a win in Chicago over the weekend that saw him post five tackles and a forced fumble.
"It's a big season for me and I'm just getting better with my other teammates," he said. "I see a big difference from last year to this year. I'm still learning the game, but the tempo is different and I'm learning more complex defense and a lot of coverages."
