Despite being out his junior season with injury, Lorton (Va.) South County 2011 safety Ronny Vandyke has seen his recruiting pick up. Plenty of colleges are very interested in the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder.
"I've got the same offers, Boston College, Maryland, Syracuse and Virginia Tech," he said. "I'm also hearing from Connecticut, LSU, Notre Dame, UCLA, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Penn State, Louisville, North Carolina and Nebraska."
Already this season Vandyke has visited Maryland.
"I went to one of their games earlier this year," he said. "It was cool. It was totally different than high school."
Vandyke confirmed another visit is planned for Pittsburgh in November.
With interest rising fast, does the junior like anybody?
"I don't really know right now," he said. "All of these are good schools. I just want a good campus where I can feel comfortable at."
Without Vandyke, South County has played well jumping out to a 5-2 start.
"We had a key loss on Friday against Lake Braddock."
Meanwhile, Vandyke is on the mend.
"I'm still out with the injury, but I'm getting ready for my surgery which is coming up in November."
