Recruiting on the back burner for Bowden

The stock of four-star Warren (Ohio) Harding athlete Lynn Bowden has been climbing since the summer, and the one-time Indiana Hoosiers commit has become a top priority for several of the college programs that have offered him. When he will choose which school to attend, though, remains uncertain.

THE LATEST

The 6-foot, 185-pound Bowden is playing quarterback this season for Harding and he has helped them get out to a 5-0 start to the 2016 season. This past weekend he led the Raiders to a 34-19 win over Youngstown Ursuline and accounted for all five of his team’s touchdowns – four rushing and one passing. Harding’s post-season aspirations are what have Bowden’s attention for the time being, and it appears he will re-focus on recruiting only when his senior season is complete. He did take in a game at nearby Youngstown State earlier this month, but otherwise has not visited or scheduled game visits to any other college programs.

IN HIS WORDS

“I have to see which (games) are the good ones to go to. I have been getting calls from coaches, but I just tell them I am focused on my season right now.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

After initially making a commitment in the winter of his junior season, Bowden now looks like he will be one of the latest four-star deciders in the Midwest for this class. His latest offers have come from Maryland, Marshall and Youngstown State. He has talked about making in-season visits to Indiana, Maryland and Tennessee in the past, but for now everything appears to be on hold while Bowden focuses on taking his Warren Harding High team as far as they can go this season. One thing is for certain, his performance thus far as a senior has done nothing to dampen the interest from college programs. The Rivals250 prospect has been outstanding, displaying his playmaking ability from the quarterback position for the Raiders.
