RICKS LOVED LSU

Elias Ricks is one of the top 2020 defensive backs in California, if not the country, and he landed an offer from LSU during a visit there last weekend.

It was such a good trip to Baton Rouge the Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout considered committing on the spot.

“The first thing that happened was coach (Ed Orgeron) offered me so that started off really good and the whole thing was good,” Ricks said. “On the trip, I nearly committed. They treated me like royalty.”

The Tigers should remain one of the top schools for Ricks but watch out for USC. The Trojans have been a dream school and might be tough to beat. Stanford, Florida State and Arizona State are also showing new interest.

DANIELS LANDS DREAM OFFER

Quarterback Jayden Daniels said USC is his dream school and he landed an offer from the Trojans last week after talking with a bunch of coaches.

Even though the San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon star had been in communication with the USC staff, the reality of getting an offer from USC was still hard to fathom.

“It was kind of a surprise,” Daniels said. “I’m not going to even lie. It was a surprise to see USC offered me. I was very happy at the moment.”

The USC quarterback situation could be interesting with five-star JT Daniels reclassifying to 2018 and then 2020 standouts D.J. Uiagalelei and Bryce Young considering the Trojans as well.

Daniels said USC is his dream school but he will consider all options - and there are plenty. Cal, Utah, Georgia, Oregon, Iowa State, Arizona and Arizona State are some others Daniels is closely following. New interest from LSU and Ohio State is coming in as well.

WILSON HAS A TOP TWO

One of the best-looking prospects at the tournament was Valencia, Calif., three-star running back/defensive back Jayvaun Wilson, who said two Pac-12 schools look best early in his recruitment.

“Right now it’s Oregon and Washington,” Wilson said. “Those are my top two right now.”

Wilson’s relationship with the coaches at both schools stand out most. The Valencia standout has built a great relationship with new Oregon assistant coach Donte Williams and Wilson also likes Washington’s Chris Petersen a whole lot.

Arizona State, Cal, Nebraska, Oregon State and Utah have also offered Wilson, whose brother, Jay Jay, plays for the Sun Devils but that won’t factor much into his recruitment.

FOUR RECRUITING WRIGHT HARDEST

Arizona, Oregon, Washington and USC are coming hardest after four-star cornerback Mykael Wright and he could be taking some visits soon.

The Valencia, Calif., standout wants to see Oregon soon and he could also go to Tennessee before his senior season. His relationship with assistant coaches who are well connected to California are also important.

Wright has had long relationships with Williams at Oregon and new Arizona assistant coach Demetrice Martin from his time at UCLA. Both of those coaches have intrigued Wright early on and could continue to be important moving forward.
