Recruiting is rising for VA 2011 back

Running back Michael Holmes put together an impressive junior season where he rolled up 2,749-yards and 41 touchdowns on his way to all-state honors. The big season has resulted in recruiting interest for the 6-foot-0, 205-pounder.
"I think I played alright," he said. "I played the best I could and I thank my line for everything."

Already one school has put an offer on the table.
"James Madison offered," he said. "It's good, it's a free college education.
"I'm also getting interest from Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia Tech."
Holmes visited Virginia and West Virginia earlier this fall.
"They were good visits. I liked Morgantown a lot and Virginia was alright too," he said. "I plan to go back up to Virginia on Saturday for a visit."
Holmes claims no leaders at this time, but has a few thoughts about what he wants in his future college destination.
"I'm just looking for academics and a good sports team. I'd like a big football school with a lot of people."
Clearly the in-state schools are interested and Holmes gave his take on both Commonwealth programs.
"I think they are good schools," he said. "I think of Virginia more as a basketball school and Virginia Tech more football. I haven't been to Tech yet, so I don't know as much about them."
A solid student as well, Holmes carries an impressive 3.57 GPA.
