Recruiting is rising for Cockerille

Offer No. 1 has come in for Baltimore (Md.) Gilman dual-threat quarterback Shane Cockerille. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder holds one scholarship from the ACC, but is getting plenty of other interest.
"Maryland has offered him," Gilman School assistant coach Henry Russell said. "West Virginia has been in, Virginia Tech was looking at him, Maryland was looking and Ohio State came by this past week.

"I suspect he will get some more scholarships in the near future."
Russell didn't note any particular leaders for Cockerille at this time as his recruiting is starting to expand.
However, Russell emphasized what kind of talent he's got in Cockerille.
"He's a tough kid, a two-time championship wrestler as a freshman and sophomore, he is tough as hell.
"He rushed for almost 1,000-yards and passed for about 1,000-yards this year."
What else stands out about him?
"He led our team and is a great kid. He has a lot of upside. He's got a great arm, is fast and physical. I think a lot of schools would benefit from having a kid like him on their team.
"I'm glad he's coming back next year."
