Recruiting is rising for 2011 CB

Interest is picking up for a rising cornerback in 2011. The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder is getting quite a bit of interest from schools across the East Coast.
"Right now Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Duke, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida State and South Carolina are interested," Winston-Salem (N.C.) Parkland junior cornerback Douglas Middleton said. "I've visited South Carolina twice this year for the Clemson and Florida games along with Duke a couple times.

"I loved South Carolina. I loved the atmosphere and 82,000 fans and the fact they are about to make it 92,000. It's hard to not like that. I think Duke is a good school, especially for life after football."
Middleton grew up a fan of the Seminoles due to his cousin, Greg Jones playing there.
"I grew up a big fan of Florida State," he said. "Greg's my cousin and he's told me a lot about it. I've been to Florida State a lot and I like the fans and coaches."
Obviously nearby Wake Forest is also in the picture.
"I like Wake and I've been there a lot," he said. "The only thing I don't like about them is that it's too close."
With interest rising, what does Middleton want in a college?
"First, I care about the academic program. That's going to be first as I want to major in business or computer programming," he stated. "The second thing is the football program and then third is the location and family feel."
A versatile defensive back that can play either safety or cornerback, Middleton posted 45 tackles and three interceptions this season on his way to all-area and all-county honors.
"It was harder because everybody knew who I was this year," he said. "I did much better last season when I got 50 tackles and six interceptions. I did miss a couple games to injury.
"I played well though. My knowledge of the game and quickness in my feet are good."
Middleton should have no issue enrolling as he reports a 3.3 GPA.
