A pair of offers is in for 6-foot-7, 315-pound junior offensive tackle Mike Grimm. However, plenty of other programs are moving in quick on the Bethel Park, Pa. prospect and offers are likely not far behind.
"I have offers from Pittsburgh and Youngstown State right now," he said. "I got something from Alabama. They are sending a lot of stuff saying they can't offer me yet, but they are interested. Virginia Tech's coach said they are probably going to offer soon. I'm also getting stuff from Virginia, Miami, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State."
Grimm has been on one visit so far this season to nearby Pittsburgh.
"I went to Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago when they won against Virginia Tech," he said. "The atmosphere down there in the locker room after the game was insane. I was watching Coach Cryst and they did a really good job. My recruiter has been great from there and super nice. The way he goes about coaching, I really like it."
Grimm intends to take more visits coming up.
"I'm going to Penn State in a couple weeks and then when the season is over I'm going to Virginia and either Maryland or Virginia Tech."
With more trips planned ahead, what is Grimm looking for on his visits?
"I'd probably say stability and just more of a family kind of feel," he said. "I'm there for the school and football, not just football. I'm pretty sure I want to major in business. I don't know about location. It's important, but it's not. That's hard to tell right now since I haven't visited too many schools."
The Keystone State lineman has helped his team to a 4-2 record at this point in the season.
"We're playing pretty good as a team," he stated. "I think I'm progressing well over the season. My pad level and speed are better. Last year I did my job, but this year I'm more focused and not just doing my job, but doing it well and punishing people."
