Recruiting is heating up for Mumford

Statesville, N.C. running back Tristan Mumford is sitting on four scholarships. The 6-foot-2, 228-pounder is hearing from numerous other schools and is starting to look at taking more visits.
"I still have offers from Duke, East Carolina, North Carolina and Wake Forest," he said. "I'm hearing from Virginia Tech, South Carolina still, Wisconsin, Florida, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Georgia Tech."
Mumford is looking at lot more at two other schools in pursuit.
"Both Michigan and Virginia came by earlier this week. I'll be looking at Virginia some more since I saw them play against Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Bowl," he said. "I'm also looking at Michigan since I've been keeping up with Denard Robinson."
Are there more offers Mumford hopes to get?
"The ones I'm really striving for are probably South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Florida," he said. "Most of those are in the SEC or very good in their conferences. I'm looking for more competition."
Meanwhile, Mumford is eyeing a visit this weekend.
"I'm supposed to be going to NC State on Saturday with Carlis (Parker)," he said. "I probably won't be able to make it to this one, but I think on the 28th o this month I'll be going to East Carolina for a junior day. I will probably have to reschedule NC State for next month with a bunch of my teammates."
After playing part of the season at tailback, Mumford played the final six games at quarterback and now is getting looks there from colleges.
"I am interested in quarterback," he said. "I've talked to coaches about that. Some are looking at me there; some are at running back and others linebackers. I finished the year earning all-conference at quarterback and my coach said he'll play me more at it next year."
