Recruiting is growing for NOVA tailback

College interest is beginning to pick up for Springfield (Va.) West Springfield tailback Jonathan Dunn. The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder landed his first offer recently and has a number of other colleges interested.
"I got my first offer from Old Dominion three weeks ago," he said. "That is the only offer I know of right now. It was a pretty good feeling to get it. I honestly wasn't expecting it. I went to the junior day and they told me about it and I was pretty excited to hear."

In the meantime, Dunn is hearing from a number of other programs.
"As far as I know, Virginia and Maryland are interested," he said. "I sent some information out to Ohio State and Oklahoma. Cornell is interested. Oklahoma State and Ohio State want me to go to their camps this summer. Virginia wanted me to come up for junior day."
Does Dunn like anybody?
"I liked Old Dominion when I went down there," he said. "It was nicer than I expected.
"My interest is a school in the SEC. I think somewhere like Arkansas would be good. I have a lot of family down there. My mom and dad are both from there, so I kind of have a little interest in them."
As interest grows, Dunn is looking for a few things in a program.
"What I want in a college is a good education first," he said. "My mom and dad put a lot of emphasis on that. Football is good, but I want to make sure I do stuff out of college too. After that, I'd say location. I don't really want to go rural, I'd rather be in suburban or a city."
For the year, Dunn ran for over 1,500-yards and 13 touchdowns while earning first team all-region and honorable mention all-metro honors.
A talented track athlete too, Dunn finished eight in the district in the 55 meter this year.
