Recruiting heats up for Massaquoi

Linebacker Jonathan Massaquoi hasn't received an offer to date, but the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder is getting plenty of college interest. Who is the Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett prospect hearing from and does he have any favorites?
"I think he is pending offers once test scores go through. He is getting letters from all over the place though probably because he has family in the NFL (cousin is Visanthe Shiancoe of the Giants and a cousin at Georgia (Mohammed Massaquoi)," Central Gwinnett head coach Bradley Warren said. "I know he has mail from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Florida, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Tennessee and others. Right now it is very hard to say who his favorite is since he doesn't really talk about it."

Massaquoi excelled on the football field last season for Central Gwinnett earning second team all-county honors.
"He is extremely athletic and has a good build to probably be more of a defensive end or tight end in college," he said. "I think he could be very good at either of those positions because he can't be blocked on defense and has good hands. He also has a big-time motor that never gets tired and really moves well.
"The other good thing about Jonathan is that I think he is still growing. He's going to be a really big young man once he's finished growing. I think he'll top out at about 6-foot-4, 250-pounds."
Last season Massaquoi registered 61 tackles and three sacks. The linebacker prospect is heading to the Nike Camp at Georgia this weekend.
