Recruiting heats up for Edet

Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly is home to some of the top recruits in the 2008 recruiting class including Lamaar Thomas and Josh Haden among others. With all that interest, recruiters are starting to notice of a few sleepers in the 2008 class including 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker Eteyen Edet.
"Already, North Carolina has come to one of my games," he said. "I'm also getting interest from NC State, Georgia, Tennessee, Connecticut, Michigan State, Syracuse, Illinois, Boston College and Maryland."

Has anyone offered yet?
"Not yet, I think NC State has given me a verbal offer," he said. "They want to see my transcript first before I get the official. I think UNC may present one once they look at my game tape too."
Since the Wolfpack appear to be the closest to an offer, what does Edet think of them?
"They are a good school. I could see myself in the ACC, I love the ACC conference. They have four teams in the top 25. I like the SEC as well."
No schools are sticking out to the Maryland prospect at this time, he did however discuss what he wants in a college.
"I want a school that's got some swagger," he said. "They let the kids play with emotion and not restrictions. I want somewhere there is intensity and I can get my teammates revved up. I'd like to be able to play as a freshman too and it would be nice to stay on the East Coast."
Edet, originally from New York City and made a stop through Fork Union last year went on to discuss his season.
"We're 8-0 I believe and I'm doing really well," he said. "I didn't play last game, but so far I've got 60 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions."
Edet discussed his strengths and weaknesses a bit as well.
"I think my agility, size and quickness are good," he said. "I also read the offense really well.
"I do need to work on my strength on the field so I can shed blockers easier. I need to be more of a leader too."
