Recruiting heats up for AL linebacker

The recruiting is heating up for Pelham, Ala. linebacker Nigel Terrell. Heading into April, Terrell only held one offer from Southern Miss. However since that time, the big linebacker has added four more, including two SEC offers.
"I have offers from Southern Miss, Kentucky, Troy, Auburn and UAB," Terrell said. "Kentucky happened with UAB and I just got Auburn two days ago and I got Troy last night."

The with three in-state offers coming recently, Terrell suddenly has several major options for college. The Auburn made an impression on him.
"I had called Coach Chizik around 9:00 the night before last and my coach had told me to call him and he said he had gotten my test scores, my ACT scores and my transcript and he just wanted to let me know that he was extending me the offer.
"I was actually happy when I found out. I was kind of smiling before he told me. My friends and family think it would be a good move to go because it's close to home and not too far away and they could see me play."
Though Terrell has an interest in the in-state programs, he doesn't have a preconceived favorite from around the region. In fact, he grew up cheering for Ohio State as his father is from Ohio.
Currently, Terrell is evaluating all of his options while taking into account a few specific factors.
"Right now I'm just kind of relaxing and just trying to look at them academically and athletically," he said. "I'm looking at if I'm going to be able to play or not or if I have to wait till my senior year or junior year to play."
Along with the schools that have already offered, Terrell has been receiving interest from Tennessee and Alabama among others and would love an offer from both of the SEC programs.
"Alabama and Tennessee both have great traditions and academics," he said. "And they have great graduation rates, so that's what I'm interested in."
Spring ball is approaching for Terrell but things won't slow down for him in the summer. He hopes to camp at Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami and others. Currently though he is running track. At 215 pounds, Terrell runs the 100 meters in 11.1 seconds and a 22.6 second 200 meters.
