Joey Alfieri had a big junior season and has already landed one Pac-12 offer. When his film gets released, the 2014 outside linebacker from Portland (Ore.) Jesuit is hopeful things get much busier.
There is a lot Alfieri likes about Oregon State, his first offer, especially since both his parents graduated from there and he enjoys the coaching staff but his recruitment is just starting to take off so he doesn't want to make any early decision.
"I was offered by OSU a couple weeks ago," Alfieri said. "I'm going to see a bowl practice this week probably.
"I went up there and I love the atmosphere in Corvallis. I really love the coaching staff. Both of my parents went there so they're big fans.
"It's really early in the recruiting process though so I'm not really ready to make that decision yet. I love OSU and that's a great school."
Alfieri, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect, has reason to be encouraged about where his recruitment is headed.
The Portland Jesuit standout said he's heard from Oregon, UCLA, Cal, Nebraska, Missouri and Arizona State so he's hopeful things pick up soon.
His junior season highlight film is good so Alfieri is anticipating a busy off-season heading into his senior year. A few programs that haven't reached out yet will be targeted.
"I haven't really sent it to anyone yet," Alfieri said. "I'm going to in the next couple days, send it out to coaches and see what they think.
"I really want to talk with Stanford more and also Notre Dame. I want to look more into those schools. They're not really talking to me much so I want to be proactive and talk to them first."
