Reclassified McCain has handful of offers

Richmond (Texas) Fort Bend Bush running back Jalynn McCain is a prospect that many college coaches were watching this spring as he still had two years of high school eligibility remaining. However, his situation has recently changed.
The 5-foot-11, 208-pound McCain recently reclassified to become a member of the class of 2012. It was the result of hard work off the field.

"In middle school I just joked around and didn't do too much of my work," McCain said. "I got held back a year. Last year I was actually classified as a sophomore and I skipped my whole junior year by taking night school and stuff. Now I'm classified as a senior since I got all my credits."
With the recent reclassification McCain has picked up a handful of offers.
"I have offers from UTSA, Western Michigan, UTEP, UNLV and San Jose State," he said. "The first one was from Western Michigan. It was like right when the season started.
"I've definitely been surprised. I never imagined it would happen like this. They really all caught me off-guard. I had a good year last year playing behind a senior and all the schools just started coming."
An in-state Big 12 school could be close to adding its name to McCain's offer list after a recent unofficial visit.
"Baylor is (the closest to offering)," he said. "I just came from up there this weekend. They wanted to offer me at their camp but all my grades weren't right because I had to skip the whole year. Everything is in order now. I went up there this past weekend and coach Kendal Briles said he'll be calling my coach sometime this week."
Some other programs are showing attention as well and McCain plans to make some other in-state visits this fall.
"I just went up there to see the game," he said of Baylor. "A lot of schools are very interested in me but they're just waiting on the grade thing. I plan to attend games at TCU, (Texas) A&M, Texas and UTSA."
With the recruiting process all new to him McCain says he does not have any favorites at this time.
"Not really," he said. "I'm just taking them all into consideration right now."
McCain rushed for 750 yards and eight touchdowns a year ago. In four games so far this season he has run for 298 yards and two scores while also catching a touchdown pass.
