The Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour will be in Florida this
weekend, the most fertile state in the country when it comes to Division I
talent. With more than 100 top level prospects each year, the talent is
traditionally off the hook. That will be the case on Sunday when the RCS Miami
is held at Gulliver Prep where 'Canes legend Sean Taylor played his high school
ball and where prospects from South Florida are out to prove it's the best place
in the country for talent. Here are the five biggest storylines for Sunday's
camp.
1. Defensive backs galore
Even with the injuries keeping prospects like Tarvarus McFadden,
Shawn Burgess-Becker and Kendrell McFadden off the field,
there are still more than 30 defensive backs ready to compete with FBS offers
led by Florida State commitment Tyrek Cole from Miramar. There
will be plenty of three-stars on hand searching for that coveted fourth star and
the battle for MVP honors could be epic.
2. Which linebacker will emerge?
Tevon Coney, who will compete, recently made a huge charge up the
rankings, so it will be interesting to see if any of the other top linebackers
in attendance can achieve a similar jump. A few to watch are
and Hart have continued to rack up the offers since their seasons concluded,
while Perry, who is already committed to Miami, is eager to prove himself as the
best linebacker in Dade/Broward.
3. Fierce battle at wideout
multiple impressive offers already, so the competition is sure to be fierce
between the group. Each will have a great opportunity to make a statement as the
top wide receiver in Florida for the Class of 2016, so who will rise to the top?
And can any of them challenge 2015 five-star Calvin Ridley for MVP
honors?
4. Which running back will shine?
With prospects like four-stars Jordan Cronkrite, Tim Irvin and
Jordan Scarlett all expected to attend, this could be a very strong
group of running backs. And 2017 back Robert Burns, with the home turf
advantage hailing from Gulliver Prep, could prove he's the best of all of them
despite being just a sophomore.
5. Can Lamar Jackson prove himself as an elite quarterback?
While other quarterbacks in the region, and more specifically Florida, have
received more publicity, Jackson has quietly continued to reel in impressive
offers. Now with offers from top programs like Florida State, Clemson,
will be paying close attention on Jackson on Sunday to see if he can back up the
hype.
