MIAMI -- National Signing Day is a must-watch annual spectacle for college football fans, but many of the younger players who hope to see their names on national TV one day also pay close attention to the proceedings. Over the weekend at the Miami stop of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas we surveyed some of the participants to see what caught their attention during this year’s big day.

Which school's signing class caught your eye?
“Nebraska getting a lot of kids from Florida was impressive. Kentucky also signed a lot of kids from my school and a lot of kids from Florida. I was just happy for my boys, it made me smile to think about a year from now when I’ll be signing. I think it’s smart for the schools up north to come down here and recruit Florida because we’re the best athletes in the country.” – Rivals100 WR John Dumore

“Jacob Copeland really surprised me. I thought he was going to go to Tennessee or Alabama. I didn’t think it would be Florida.” – Davis
“Patrick Surtain committing to Alabama did. That surprised me. I wanted him to go somewhere else. I thought LSU was going to get him. I wanted him to go to LSU.” –Henningham
“Nests Silvera sticking with Miami. I thought he was going to flip to Florida but it was a good surprise he didn’t. I was happy. I know he’s going to draw the double team and I’m going to come right around when we’re teammates.” – Williams
“Patrick Surtain. I thought he was going to go to LSU so it did surprise me.” – Bogle
“I didn’t think Pat was going to go to Alabama. I’ve played against him my whole life. My only losses are against them. He shocked me.” – Three-star QB Nik Scalzo

Was there any one moment that stood out?
“The boys at American Heritage (Surtain, Campbell, Silvera, Andrew Chatfield) committing. All of them made the right decision. It’s the first decision that you’re going to. make as a man so Nesta going to Miami is big, Chatfield going to Florida will be a factor Surtain should be good at Alabama.” – Bogle
