RCS Cleveland: Best of the Rest

Recruiting wrap: Cincinnati, Kentucky and Wake Forest are among seven offers for Chapman.
Performance: At 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, Chapman is definitely an in-line tight end prospect, but he showed the ability to be an asset in the passing game as well. Because of the size of his frame, linebackers who tried to cover him had trouble getting through him to break up the pass. Chapman knows how to use his body to shield defenders from the football and possesses soft hands. He is not a burner and did not create separation downfield, but his route-running was crisp and he was able to get open in the short and intermediate routes.

DT
Kordell Looney
Springfield, Ohio
Recruiting wrap: Looney committed to Kentucky on March 28.
Performance: Looney measured in at 6-foot-5 and 283 pounds, so he has great size for the three-technique defensive tackle position. The Kentucky commit complements that size by playing with good pad level and generating a lot of power in his rush. Plugging up the middle and stuffing the run are going to be his strengths, but Looney also showed he could beat offensive linemen and put pressure on the quarterback. He had one of the best reps against the eventual Offensive Line MVP, Jake Heinrich, who was dominant in almost all his other matchups.

OT
Taeshon Trotter
Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech
Recruiting wrap: Trotter still awaits his first scholarship offer.
Performance: Trotter was another surprise standout at Sunday's event. He saw limited playing time for a loaded Cass Tech team last fall, but showed in Cleveland he is going to be one to watch this summer and into his junior season. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, Trotter was one of the most physically impressive offensive tackle prospects at the event and he showed the game to match his physique. Trotter had a lot of success in his one-on-one reps, kicking out and mirroring defensive ends, and getting good extension after his initial punch.

ATH
Armani Posey
Detroit (Mich.) King
Recruiting wrap: Posey still awaits his first offer.
Performance: Posey is listed as a wide receiver, but worked out at linebacker on Sunday and was surprisingly natural at the position. At 6-foot-1 and 196 pounds, Posey may have the frame to grow into a Will linebacker at the next level and he said some schools are starting to evaluate him there. Posey is a plus-athlete for the linebacker position and has exceptional ball skills. He registered at least one interception that we saw during the one-on-one session and got his hands on several other passes.

WR
Desmond Fitzpatrick
Farmington, Mich.
Recruiting wrap: Fitzpatrick committed to Louisville last fall, but is still considering Michigan and a few other schools.
Performance: The 6-foot-1, 189-pound Fitzpatrick has had a really strong off-season coming off a good junior season at Farmington High. He continued that momentum Sunday, creating decent separation and showing the route-running acumen that coaches love. Fitzpatrick showed a wide catch radius, reeling in several poorly thrown balls. He also elevated over defenders on several repetitions and came down with the football. Fitzpatrick has good size for the position, but plays even longer than his measurables.
7
RB
Kyle Brunson
Farmington, Mich.
Recruiting wrap: Brunson holds an offer from Ohio University, where his brother is going into his second year in the Bobcats' program.
Performance: Brunson is a stocky back with a powerful lower body. He measured in at 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds and has great quickness for that size. Brunson initially stood out in drill work, where he was out-performing several more recognizable names at running back. Brunson gets to top speed in a hurry and we have seen that be an asset for him in-season where he hits the hole with authority. In a camp setting, that quickness allowed him to get on top of linebackers in an instant and force them to react.
8
WR
Seth Dawkins
Columbus (Ohio) Franklin Heights
Recruiting wrap: Dawkins lists a top five of Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Tennessee.
Performance: Dawkins is another of the tall, powerful receivers who stood out at Sunday's camp. Measuring in at 6-foot-3 and 201 pounds, the central Ohio native certainly makes people stand up and take notice when he trots out to take a rep. The three-star prospect is a powerful strider who pops in and out of his breaks and he attacks the football with strong hands. His height and leaping ability were on display several times when he went up and over a defensive back to reel in a catch.
9
RB
Asim Rose
Garfield Heights, Ohio
Recruiting wrap: Rose has been committed to Kentucky since February.
Performance: At 6-foot-1 and 191 pounds, Rose has an atypical build for a running back, but it certainly does not stop him from being an effective ballcarrier. What was noticeable when he went through position drills was how smooth the Kentucky commit is. He has an easy stride and is never fighting the turf. In the one-on-one session Rose showed good ball skills, tipping an underthrown ball to himself and away from the defensive back, then securing the catch.

OL
Brandon Ford
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Upper St. Clair
Recruiting wrap: Ford committed to Pittsburgh on March 22.
Performance: Ford measured in at 6-foot-4 and 304 pounds. His weight is well-proportioned across his frame and he has good arm length. The physical aspects of Ford's game are all there, and he certainly plays with a chip on his shoulder and good intensity. Areas of development include dropping his pad level and not overcommitting and losing balance, but Ford had a very good overall day in Cleveland. The Pittsburgh commit can kick out and handle the speed rush, while also having the strength to battle with bigger defensive ends.
11
CB
Therran Coleman
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Brashear
Recruiting wrap: Coleman holds offers from Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Wisconsin and is hearing from Ohio State and Stanford.
Performance: Coleman has gone from unknown to well-known on the recruiting scene in a short period of time and after seeing the Pittsburgh native in-person, the reason why was evident. At just over 6-feet and 181 pounds, Coleman has the height and the long arms college coaches covet at the cornerback position. The downside to taller defensive backs is they tend to be stiffer through the hips, but we did not see that with Coleman and he showed really good feet through position drills.
12
OL
Nathan Murray
Pineville (Ky.) Bell County
Recruiting wrap: Murray holds two offers, Ball State and Austin Peay.
Performance: Murray is a big-bodied offensive line prospect who measured in at 6-foot-5 and 325 pounds. He understands the advantage his size gives him and bullies smaller defensive linemen. Murray does not have great feet, but his feet are adequate enough and may allow him to stay out to right tackle in college, but guard is certainly an option as well. He sets up with a good base, has a very solid initial punch and is able to control the defender after locking on.
13
OL
Juanye Johnson
Muskegon, Mich.
Recruiting wrap: Johnson still awaits his first scholarship offer.
Performance: There was a lot of buzz about Johnson early in his prep career, but an injury during his sophomore season that lingered into the off-season slowed his ascent as a prospect. After what he showed on Sunday, though, the time may be now when colleges start to turn up the heat on the West Michigan lineman. Johnson plays light on his feet, but measuring just 6-foot-2 and 285 pounds, he is likely destined for the interior of the offensive line. Johnson shows a strong initial punch and does a good job getting his arms extended on the defensive lineman.

DB
Tony Butler
Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward
Recruiting wrap: Butler committed to Pittsburgh on March 21.
Performance: Butler played cornerback as a junior, but he measured in at 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds on Sunday and looks destined for the safety position in college. The Pitt commit is a little stiff in his back-pedal and his turn, but his experience playing cornerback showed in the one-on-one session. He was consistently around the football, breaking up several passes. Butler can stick his foot in the ground and break on the football extremely well, and his size made him one of the few defensive backs that could battle with a big group of wide receivers for the football.
15
DE
Eyioma Uwazurike
Lathrup Village (Mich.) Southfield-Lathrup
Recruiting wrap: Uwazurike has been offered by Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo.
Performance: Measuring 6-foot-6 and 255 pounds, Uwazurike has always had the look of a high Division I prospect, but the question was what position. After seeing him several times this off-season and then again on Sunday in Cleveland, Uwazurike has started to settle into the defensive end position. Height can be an asset or a detriment at defensive end, but Uwazurike does a good job keeping his pad level down and maximizing the advantage of his length. He is a great athlete for the size and could be in for a big summer.
