RCS Charlotte: Underclassmen offensive playmakers win the day

The Charlotte edition of the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour featured as many top underclassmen as upperclassmen. Here are some additional standouts.

Recruiting wrap: Tennessee, Wake Forest, West Virginia are among the early offers Currie-Elliott has received.

Performance: Currie-Elliott is a quick, shifty back who showed a nice ability to change directions. The cutting ability he showed in drills very much carried over to one-on-ones. The all-purpose back is very dangerous in space and was great at getting open, both on short and intermediate routes.

Recruiting wrap: N.C. State, Duke, East Carolina and Charlotte have offered.

Performance: Person was a beast. He was too big and fast for most of the defenders he faced and did a good job separating from linebackers. Person had a lot of success running corner routes, too. Even though he played running back at the camp, Person is listed as an athlete and could play on either side of the ball in college.

Recruiting wrap: North Carolina, Clemson, N.C. State and Georgia Tech are standing out to Lawrence.

Performance: Lawrence's body and skills have developed nicely since the last time we saw him. He was able to run through and evaded contact with linebackers to quickly get into the open field. Lawrence also made some very impressive catches on seam and out routes.

Recruiting wrap: Ford is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: Ford is a speedy, shifty slot receiver and he consistently got open, regardless of the defenders he faced. He was also very consistent catching the ball and, if weren’t for a few errant throws, he would have won even more reps during one-on-ones. Ford looks like he would be a great fit in the right type of offense.

Recruiting wrap: Ford's offer sheet is well into the double digits. Offers from South Carolina and Maryland have caught his eye.

Performance: Ford's game is still raw but he made spectacular play after spectacular play. He has great hands and made some eye-popping moves to pull in some errant throws. None of the linebackers could really keep up with Ford in the open field.

Recruiting wrap: Virginia, Maryland and N.C. State have offered Asiedu.

Performance: Asiedu has an ideal frame to be a future franchise left tackle. He has added strength and mass over the last few months and is getting a better feel for how and when to use his long arms in pass protection. Asiedu is still learning the game and had some success, but he will be tough to beat once he refines his technique.

Recruiting wrap: Florida State, North Carolina, Tennessee, N.C. State and many others have offered Kingsley.

Performance: Kingsley is so talented and he doesn't actually know how good he is or how good he can be. He naturally plays with good leverage, explodes off the line of scrimmage, and knows how and when to attack the inside or outside of the offensive lineman. Kingsley used some semi-advanced hand techniques without even realizing it.

Recruiting wrap: Charlotte was Crouch's first offer.

Performance: Coaches in attendance did not believe Crouch was just a freshman when they saw how big he was and how well he moved in the open field. He has great straight line speed and has a huge wing span. Crouch is probably destined for another position if he keeps growing and adding weight to his frame.

Recruiting wrap: No schools have offered Low yet.

Performance: Low caught a lot of people off guard because his hands and feet were so good. Some of the other players thought he was a 2017 prospect because his skills were so advanced. Low has a bright future if he can keep his speed and continue building on the progress he's already made.

Recruiting wrap: Mitchell holds close to 30 offers with Oklahoma and Notre Dame being the most recent.

Performance: There are more than a few reasons why Mitchell is one of the most coveted players in the 2018 class and his full repertoire was on display. He has great size and covers a ton of ground when covering in the open field. Mitchell also knows when to be physical and when to sit back so he's not fooled by double moves.

Recruiting wrap: North Carolina and Virginia Tech have offered Brown.

Performance: Brown had a very successful showing. His hands were consistent and quarterbacks loved throwing to him because of his height and large catch radius. Brown also showed offer good route-running skills during the one-on-one session.

Recruiting wrap: Clemson, Penn State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and N.C. State have shown interest in Frazier.

Performance: Frazier's performance drew rave reviews from the coaching staff. He is on the smaller side right now but he has long arms and very good footwork. Frazier wasn't afraid to get physical with bigger receivers but another few inches will help him turn Sunday's contested catches into pass breakups or interceptions.

Recruiting wrap: Florida and Alabama are the most recent additions to Henry's long offer sheet.

Performance: Henry is super talented and had a chance to be higher on this list or make the Fab 15 if he had taken more reps. He has great size and length and understands passing rushing techniques and hand moves. Once Henry adds more strength, he will be very tough to stop.

Recruiting wrap: Mauney is just starting to get onto the radar of many schools.

Performance: One of the last players to show up for the camp, Mauney didn't disappoint. He is very muscle-bound for such a young player and was very physical with the linebackers that challenged him. Mauney was also a smooth runner in space and speed is not a concern with him.

Recruiting wrap: Clemson, SMU and Texas Tech have offered Venables.

Performance: Venables, the son of Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, isn't getting offers just because he's a prominent coach's son. He has a very big frame and moves well in coverage. Venables has a great sense of timing when the ball is in the air and an outstanding understanding of the game.
