RB/LB Gets First Offers

Running backs from Maryland are making a name for themselves this year with Barrington Edwards leading the way as the top back. But there’s another power rusher from the state that’s making quite a name for himself.
“I have offers from Louisville, Virginia Tech, and Penn State right now,” said 6-foot-3, 225-pound Harold Stanback. “My coach is hearing some stuff from Temple, so I think I may get an offer from them soon also.”

Last year at Forestville (Md.) McNamara, Stanback made 89 tackles and had 11 sacks on defense as a linebacker and defensive end. This year, he should play both defense and offense, and running back may be the position he winds up at in college. If not, he could play either outside or inside linebacker with his impressive 40-yard dash speed of 4.7 seconds.
“I’ve been to camps at North Carolina and Virginia. I enjoyed both a lot, and the coaches at each school really helped me on a lot of things I’m trying to improve on. Aside from camps, I’ve gone down to Virginia on an unofficial visit, but that’s it.”
Stanback offers have had an affect on his thinking.
“My four favorite schools are Maryland, Virginia, Penn State, and Virginia Tech. I’m looking at those four the hardest, but I’m going to keep all my options open, and I don’t want to limit myself. I’m pretty sure that four of my five official visits will go to my four leaders, but I’m not sure where my fifth will go.”
If schools are expecting an early decision from Stanback, they may be disappointed. He seems to be taking his time weighing all his options, and may wait a while.
